严格意义上的“城市小说”是在都市化文化语境上对“城市性”的艺术感受和审美把握,在这个意义上产生的90年代“城市小说”一出现便成为城市文化的重要生长点。90年代“城市小说”在创作类型和表现形态上可分为“世情生态”、“市情商态”、“问题写实”三脉。“世情生态”小说关注城镇民间社会三教九流的众生相和纷坛杂陈的世俗景观,讲究圆满融合的美学精致与中和从容的叙事风范;“市情商态”小说使中国当代小说具备了真正的“城市化”品位,它拓开了新的叙事表达空间和别样的创作情调;“问题写实”小说以“平民立场”来书写社会“公共生活”中人们关注的现象或“问题”,平实性的艺术表达、写实化的叙事操作、现实主义责任感都表现得比较充分。
