The pressure boundary of the control fluid in nuclear power plants includes pipes, valves, equipment parts, heat exchangers, instruments and other components. This article will explore the design and materials of nuclear power plant pipelines. Due to the limitation of article length, pressure bearing boundaries other than the above will not be considered here. Because this article deals only with pipelines, and specifically with the pipeline of nuclear power plants, the name should first be defined. Nuclear power plant pipelines can be divided into two categories: with radioactive fluid pipelines and pipelines without radioactive fluid. Pipes with radioactive fluids are called nuclear conduits, whereas pipes without radioactive fluid are called conventional or powered pipes. In the United States, the definition of a nuclear pipeline is that once the fluid contained in the pipeline design is lost from the system, there is a danger of radiation to the plant personnel or the general public. The power pipe is not included in the above definition.
