According to “World Rubber,” the 2008 financial crisis hit the U.S. and Europe’s auto industries with a marked slowdown in demand for the automotive market. The demand for rubber raw materials in the automotive rubber industry and the tire industry was sluggish, resulting in a drop in rubber consumption growth.
