英美文学中存在着一个影响广泛、持续发展的哥特传统,英国哥特小说最早产生于17世纪后半期,作为一个流派真正产生重大影响并形成高潮,是在18世纪90年代到19世纪初。哥特小说对英国文学创作产生了巨大的影响,本文简要阐释哥特小说形成于英国的原因和背景,论述其历经19世纪和20世纪的发展,及在现当代的再度繁荣。 Anglo-American literature exists in a Gothic tradition that has a broad and sustained development. The British Gothic novel first came into being in the second half of the 17th century. As a genre, it really had a significant impact and culminated in the 1890s and early 19th century. Gothic novels have had a tremendous impact on English literature creation. This article briefly explains the reasons and background of the formation of Gothic novels in the United Kingdom, discusses its development after the 19th and 20th centuries, and its current prosperity.
