Old English “Genesis B” occupies an important place in the religious history of English poetry. As far as the scriptural practice is concerned, this narrative poem is not only a reinterpretation of the Bible story of Eden, but also effectively incorporates the Anglo-Saxon non-Christian social cultural conception into the narrative of the story, rendering this classic Christian story from beginning to end Tail filled with a strong atmosphere of ancient Hermann heroic society. The close integration of the two cultural factors into one of the works is precisely the key feature of Cademan’s religious poetry. This feature in Genesis B is less prominent than the rest of the poem, but it is also outstanding in this respect. Capt. Merkman’s merit should mainly lie in his work which opened the precedent of British religious poetry
