According to the Daily Space Agency’s March 9, 2014 report, Surrey Satellite Technologies Ltd. (SSTL) and the Surrey Space Center are celebrating the orbital satellites of the University of Surrey Satellite 2 (UoSAT-2) 30 years. Today, the UoSAT-2 satellite is still capable of transmitting VHF telemetry signals every 11 days of operation, and its on-board real-time clock, although somewhat slow to run, can still signal. Satellite batteries have been depleted after about 160,000 charge cycles and signal transmission is detected only in the sun, amateur radio satellite hobbyists (AMSATs) around the world can still keep track of their telemetry signals and help calibrate the equipment . The UoSAT-2 satellite, weighing 70 kilos, was designed and manufactured by the Surrey team of about 12 researchers and amateur radio satellite hobbyists. The satellite
