1983~1985年用多菌系混合接种鉴定了5千多个品种,从中选出具有不同抗性水平的品种30多个。通过多次连续接种比较,最后筛选出12个作为鉴别品种。即二翻早、梭米草、绥阳谷、大白谷、小黄谷、有芒大头白壳晚米、大杯子谷、大白糯、K46、MRC1239、育401、桂朝2号。1985~1988年用来自贵州41个县(市)的169个水稻纹枯病单菌核分离菌接种在12个鉴别品种上,按接种后的反应分成3组13个不同菌系群。即ThA、B、C、D,TkA、B、C、D,MhA、B、C、D、E。其中ThA、B、C类群是贵州的主要茵系。另外,对病菌分离菌株的培养性状也进行了研究。
