东天山造山带在晚古生代时期经历了四阶段演化过程,即泥盆纪吐-哈古大洋形成,早石炭世俯冲造山,晚石炭世碰撞造山,以及二叠纪造山期后造山带的进一步变形。近年来,通过新疆路白山一带1∶5万区域矿产地质调查项目工作,对东天山造山带南部的早晚石炭世中基-中酸性火山岩系,火山岩韵律及岩石化学分析研究,认为该套火山岩属于典型的岛弧火山岩系,研究区在晚石炭世仍处于古亚洲洋向南俯冲的岛弧环境。
