1991年,对于中国诗歌而言,实际上应该是一个分水岭。中国诗歌不再是一种腾云驾雾、不着边际的乌托邦,或拿腔拿调、虚情假意的伪抒情。1991年之后的汉语诗歌,开始变得自由、自觉、率真、清澈、淳朴、踏实和灵动,凝结出一种睿智和饱满。随着时间的推移,这些不声不响的流变,逐渐与较前的诗歌拉大了距离,呈现出令人惊喜的气象。清爽的口语化写作,在一种放轻足音的凝视中,从点点滴滴,逐渐汇聚为一股汹涌的潮流。《1991年以来的中国诗歌》为我们呈现的,恰恰是中国诗歌在这一时期的转折和流变
