容闳与盛宣怀在津镇铁路筹资问题上的冲突是晚清铁路建设史上重要的一幕。容闳提出集股承筑津镇铁路的方案,身为铁路公司总办的盛宣怀表现出强烈的排他性,联合张之洞、王文韶和刘坤一等地方督抚加以阻止,最终迫使容闳退出。这一冲突反映了洋务人物在围绕实际利益问题上,有未能理性沟通的弱点,正是这一冲突最终导致津镇铁路落于德英两国之手。
The conflict between Rong Rong and Sheng Xuanhuai on the financing of Jinzhen Railway was an important episode in the history of railway construction in the late Qing Dynasty. Rong Rong proposed a plan to build a joint stock company to build the Tianjin-Tianjin Railway. Sheng Xuanhuai, head of the railway company, showed a strong exclusion. It was prevented by local governors such as Zhang Zhidong, Wang Wenshao and Liu Kunyi, eventually forcing Rong to withdraw. This conflict reflects the weakness of the failure of rational communication between the foreign affairs personnel and the people around the actual interests. It is precisely this conflict that eventually led to the departure of the Tianjin-Tianjin railway between Germany and Britain.
