Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted on migrant women and women of childbearing age in eight districts and counties in the Pearl River Delta to find out the opportunities for basic public health services and the inequalities of results among women of childbearing age. Results A total of 5 600 questionnaires were distributed and 4 340 were recovered. The effective recovery rate was 77.50%. A total of 2 193 migrant women of reproductive age and 2 147 women of childbearing age were surveyed. 75.8% of migrant women of childbearing age have medical insurance and 57.1% of them have received free medical examination; 71.5% and 88.0% of them receive basic public health services free of charge and receive free family planning, respectively 57.6%. Conclusions The proportion of women of childbearing mobility in the Pearl River Delta Region is lower than that of women of childbearing age at receiving health knowledge, basic public health services and postnatal care services. Therefore, emphasis should be placed on increasing the allocation of resources and financial input to public health agencies, further developing and improving the social medical security system and promoting the equalization of basic public health services among women of childbearing age.
