Passenger life-saving propulsion system is a key component ejection seat, to a large extent determines the ejection seat upgrade mode. For example, the first generation of ballistic ejection seats featured ballistic cartridges; the second generation of rocket ejection seats featured thrust booms. At present, there are three types of thrust systems for the third generation of ejection seats commonly used by military aircraft of various countries all over the world: one is a combined power of a catapult and a rocket pack (under a chair basin), and a combination of a catapult and a back rockets combined power The third is a rocket ejector, which combines a catapult and a booster rocket into a single unit, such as the ACES ejection seat. The U.S. Marine Corps Indian Division (IHD / NSWC) located in Maryland, USA, is responsible for the testing and acceptance of the US Armed Forces crew life support propulsion system and propulsion units. The division is equipped with Kistler thrust measurement test rigs, Ormond multi-component thrust test stands and high-speed electronic memory imaging systems and other advanced test equipment.
