地质人员和岩石物理人员利用成像测井直观了解地下岩石,确定构造形态和地层特征。借助于成像资料,人们可以分析油藏特性,诸如非均质性、沉积环境和构造特征,包括裂缝、褶皱和断层等。工程技术人员发现在油基泥浆条件下采集成像数据非常困难,因为油基泥浆本身不导电,致使依赖于导电媒介的成像测井无法采集有效数据,尤其是对裂缝分析而言。如今这一难题已经被新型油基泥浆成像测井成功攻克。
Geologists and petrophysics use imaging logging to understand subsurface rocks and determine structural patterns and formation characteristics. With imaging data, one can analyze reservoir characteristics such as heterogeneity, sedimentary environment and tectonic features, including cracks, folds and faults. Engineers found it very difficult to acquire imaging data under oil-based mud conditions because the oil-based mud itself is not electrically conductive, rendering imaging data dependent on electrically conductive media inaccessible to validated data, especially for fracture analysis. This challenge has now been successfully overcome by the new oil-based mud imaging logging.
