此鼎上的文字是浇铸而成,其在剥泐过程中留下了苍劲有力、古拙朴茂的线质。大盂鼎,高101.9厘米,口径77.8厘米。圆形,立耳,深腹,三柱足,颈及足上部饰兽面纹。为康王时贵族盂所作的祭器。传为清代道光初年于陕西岐山礼村出土。大盂鼎又称盂鼎,之所以冠以“大”是为了区别于小盂鼎。这两个鼎同出,但小盂鼎原器已失,仅存铭文拓本。
