Frederick Starr, Lost Enlightenment: Central Asia’s Golden Age from Arab Conquest to Tamerlane, Princeton: Princeton University Press, 2013, xxxvii + 696 pp. American Scholar Frederick Starr’s “Lost Enlightenment: From the Arabs The conquest of the Golden Age of Central Asia in Timur period ”is a collection of contexts from the conquest of Central Asia by Arabs in 750 AD to the enlightenment and development of Central Asian culture during the Timurid period in the mid-15th century. The author divides this period into three stages: the conquest and rule of Arabs, the rule of Turkic people, the Mongols conquest and rule, and explores the background, philosophical and scientific achievements of the Enlightenment era in Central Asia and the reasons for the decline of Enlightenment .
