绿元宝Castanospermum australe,又名澳栗,原产于澳大利亚东北部热带雨林中的池中或者有水的岸边,为独种属(此属只有一种),是常绿阔叶乔木,高可达30米,冠径10多米,十分雄伟壮观。叶片对生奇数羽状复叶5～7对,小叶长椭圆披针形,花腋生总状花序,小花密集,花色橙、红、黄,形态如蝴蝶,从春到夏开花络绎不绝。种于黑色硕大如“黑豆”,播种成苗后也可以长成大树,故也称为“黑豆树”。
