OBJECTIVE: To study the phototactic response of grasshoppers induced by photoacoustic coupling and control light, which provides theoretical basis for the photoelectric induced trapping and control of locusts and phototrophic gain control. Methods: According to the locust’s phototactic mechanism and the response characteristics of locust stimulating by acoustic stimulation, the contrastive measures of photo-acoustical coupling and photopic phototropism of grasshopper on locusts were studied by using LED light source, audio playing equipment and locust behavior testing device. Effect of Acoustic Coupling on Locust Phototropism. Results: (1) The difference of light energy and sound energy and locomotion between locust photoacoustic receptors and the combination of spectral light and acoustic coupling stimulated the double stacking effect of locust biological activity and phototrophic response, which enhanced the phototactic activity of locusts, Strengthen the locust’s phototactic behavior and improve the locust’s phototropism response, reaching the push-pull-driven locust phototropism response; (2) in the photoacoustic coupling excited locust photophor response peak, locust sensitivity to different acoustic stimuli (3) The acceptable tolerance of locust to sensitive parameters of acoustic stimulation led to the fact that spectral illumination played a dominant role in locust-induced response, while acoustic stimulation played a gain-driven effect of stimulating locust phototropism. Conclusion: The rational arrangement and combination of spectral illumination and acoustic stimulation can effectively improve the phototactic response of locusts.
