目前,沥青路面尤其是高速公路沥青路面的大量过早损坏造成了很大的经济损失和不良的社会影响引起了广泛的重视,交通部、各省市以及大专院校、研究机构花费了大量的精力和经费,采取了多种措施如SMA、改性沥青、提高集料质量、增加路面强度等,试图解决路面的早期损坏现象。遗憾的是,这种早期损坏的现象不仅没有减少,反而具有增加的趋势,以致于从政府官员到研究人员普遍感到十分迷茫,路面技术似乎迷失了前进的方向。
