这里所谓的间歇性就是指侦测话筒对环境声的采集不是连续的,而是间接进行的。换句话说,在前面讲的ALC中的侦测话筒是不间断的采集环境噪声电平,并将侦测的环境声音传递给ALC进行判断。而间歇环境电平传感器(Gap Ambient LevelSensor 简称GALS)是当主通道音源信号(Program)停止激励或激励间隙的时候进行环境的噪声检测。例如在会议室扩声中,发言者是不可能连续不断的说话的,而侦测话筒就是在发言者讲话的空隙(甚至字和字之间的空隙)进行环境声探测,再将探测结果报告给GALS进行处理。
