普拉提是一种集合瑜伽、舞蹈、体操的一种身体训练。东方人的运动如瑜伽和太极,着重呼吸和心灵集中;西方人的运动着重肌肉体能训练,普拉提就糅合了两者的概念。它的动作缓慢和清楚,而每个姿势都必须和呼吸相协调,所以Pilates适合任何年龄,特别是缺少运动、长时间需要接触电脑和朝九晚五的上班族的人士。不局限场地、不拘泥动作,伸张肌肉、腹式呼吸,是使身心获得适当协调的有氧运动。而普拉提与其他有氧运动最大的不同就是,它是静态的,讲究呼吸协调,甚至不需要音乐,因为音乐会打乱人关注肌肉运动的注意力。
