The Aredor mine exploits the conventional dragline method to extract diamond alluvial deposits. Put into operation in 1984, when the guidelines are: the rainy season mining in the terraces, the dry season in the riverbank mining. Early results of the production were disappointing and failed to reach the expected grade for geological evaluation. In 1985, the installed capacity of mines doubled, along with other changes. Therefore, the actual production capacity of the mine almost reached the original three times. In order to re-evaluate the existing reserves and increase their holdings, a large-scale geological plan was implemented, including the use of more advanced evaluation methods. As a result, reserves in floodplains have increased substantially, accounting for the largest portion of total reserves. Therefore, it is inevitable to change the course of production. It is necessary to study ways to get in and out of the floodplain, which is often flooded in the rainy seasons, so that mining can take place in those areas throughout the year. There are many mining areas located on banks and riverbed banks of the Baoule River with a peak flow of 400m3 / s. After the diversion of the river, it is possible to access these mining areas around the clock and, more importantly, to avoid flooding the mining area. The Areido Mine has completed six major river diversion projects, a total length of about 12km. All of these projects have achieved their intended purpose so that production plans can be formulated according to the economic evaluation results of each mining area without undue consideration of the natural conditions or seasonal factors of the strata. According to the Manning equation, the channel size was calculated and the result was very satisfactory. The article describes all the practical work of river diversion preparation and flood control. Another example is given as well as detailed cost calculations for implementing the project.
