Based on the review of the bidding process of large-scale sports events at home and abroad in the past, this paper uses the questionnaire survey method and mathematical statistics to analyze the potential role of the populace in the bidding process and the potential of holding large-scale sporting events in the locality The results show that: The bidding process of any major sporting event involves a very wide range of aspects, including sports organizations and organizations in China and abroad, as well as the government agencies that bid for the city or the country; public opinions can influence whether the government Support the bidding and provide funds for the bidding activities; most of the sporting events carry the features of public goods, so that the government departments have reason to inject government funds into the bid invitation. Finally, the statistical analysis also shows that the per capita income of the host area is inversely proportional to its support rate. In the economically underdeveloped bidding areas, if large-scale sporting events are held to drive economic growth, it will be easier to consolidate the government’s prestige among the public.
