Milan Temple in Xinjiang is located in the Han and Jin Silk Road Loulan throat. The murals drawn in the third century or so, for the earliest appearance of Buddhist murals in China prototype. The author of the mural paintings is a painter from the Gansu Basin in the Gandhara area, which reflects the earliest signs of East-West painting and art exchanges. From the image of Milan murals, it inherits the non-mainstream expression techniques in Roman painting and reveals the basic features of Gandhara’s early paintings. Not only that, Milan murals also provide empirical evidence for the interpretation of the early Buddhist paintings in the regions of Quci, Dunhuang and Hexi, as well as the formation and characteristics of Buddhist painting styles in the Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties.
