中国入世一年,“狼来了”——外国零售商巨头脚跟脚地进来,沃尔玛、家乐福、麦德龙、欧尚、7-11便利店、万客隆、伊藤洋华堂跑马圈地,扩展国内市场。中外零售业真正短兵相接,中国零售业面临前所未有的生存考验。我们存在不少竞争劣势——在全球市场上,我们整体规模小、集中成都低,缺乏国际零售经验,单店规模小,业态结构较单一,缺少自有品牌商品,对先进信息技术的应用差,管理落后、从业人员素质低;在国内市场上,产权不明晰、国有股过大,企业负担重,地方保护主义仍较严重,一些地方政府给予外商投资零售企业过多优惠……但我们也有优势——中国零售业有区域销售规模优势,有门店地理位置优势,有占据农村市场具备便利条件的优势,有文化上的优势,有取得政府支持上的优势……中国零售业急切呼唤《连锁法》、《特许加盟法》、《大卖场店址法》……的诞生,以能投入全部力量参与市场竞争,提高我们的整体竞争能力
One year after China’s accession to the WTO, “the wolf has come”—the giants of foreign retailers come in. Wal-Mart, Carrefour, Metro, Auchan, 7-11 Convenience Store, Wankelong, Ito Yokado, and expansion Domestic market. Chinese and foreign retails are really short-swinged and China’s retail industry is facing an unprecedented test of survival. We have a lot of competitive disadvantages. In the global market, we have a small overall scale, low concentration in Chengdu, lack of international retail experience, small size of single stores, a relatively simple structure, lack of proprietary brand products, and poor application of advanced information technologies. The management is backward and the quality of employees is low; in the domestic market, the property rights are not clear, the state-owned shares are too large, the enterprises are burdened with heavy burdens, and local protectionism is still serious. Some local governments give foreign-invested retail companies excessive discounts... but we also have advantages. ——China’s retail industry has the advantage of regional sales scale. It has the geographical advantages of stores, has the advantage of having convenient conditions for occupying rural markets, has cultural advantages, and has the advantage of obtaining government support...
