《大地》是1938年诺贝尔文学奖获得者赛珍珠的成名作。赛珍珠幼时随传教士父母来华,数十年间与普通百姓广为接触的经历使她深刻了解了中国人的生活与苦难。她目睹农村的悲惨景象,发现农民“承担着生活的重担,做得最多,挣得最少。他们与大地最亲近,无论是生是死,是哭是笑,都是最真实的”。[1]为呈现这一群体,赛珍珠以同情的
“The Earth” is the fame of Pearl S. Buck in 1938, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. Pearl S. Buck’s arrival in China as a missionary’s parents as early as in his childhood, her decades-long experience of being in touch with ordinary people, gave her a profound understanding of Chinese life and misery. She witnessed the tragic scene in rural areas and found that peasants “take on the burden of life, do the most, earn the least, and they are closest to the earth, whether they are alive or dead, they cry and laugh, and they are the most real.” [1] To show this group, Pearl Pearl is sympathetic
