This article describes a new oil seal principle that has been applied to standard V-rings with a small hole in the lip. The function of the small hole is to exhaust even a small amount of leakage between the V-ring lip and the sealing surface sliding on the lip. Discussed the shortcomings of this seal and some suggestions for use. Foreword In order to ensure that the oil seal with a rubber ring lip is satisfactory for use, many requirements must be met. The lip and the sealing surface must be machined well. The unit pressure of the lip against the sealing surface must be kept within a small range. Too much pressure will cause high frictional drag and damage the oil film between the lip and the sealing surface, resulting in dry friction, abnormal wear and thermal expansion. Unit lip pressure should not be too low, because the film is too thick, the surface tension is not enough to maintain oil in the lip and seal table
