Based on the analysis of five kinds of distribution high and lateral friction methods in American States Highway and Traffic Workers Association (AASHTO), this paper puts forward the design concept of safety limit, and based on this design concept, establishes the highway continuity optimization Design model The objective of this model objective function is to minimize the overall change in the safety limits of the proposed section (overall analysis) or individual changes (decomposition analysis) between adjacent curves in order to maximize the consistency of the road design and to improve Driving safety and comfort. Discrete mathematics or the method of using conic can be used in the model to determine the distribution of ultrahigh and lateral friction. The application of this model in two examples shows that the method provided by this model is adopted in the design of road continuity Better than AASHTO recommended method.
