我国古代从周朝开始,农历十二月合祭众神叫做“腊”,古书上有这样的解释:“腊者,猎也,由猎取兽以祭”。也就是说,“腊”是打猎,是用打来的野兽进行祭祀。因为祭祀活动大都在十二月进行,以后就把这个月定为“腊月”。到汉代,又按“干支纪日法”,确定“冬至”后第三个戌日为“腊日”,后来又把腊日定为十二月初八日,“腊八”即成为我国民间极为重视的一个传统节
