偏硼酸锂能有效地分解硅酸盐及其它造岩矿物和排除氟的干扰,并有利于系统分析时钾、钠的同时测定。熔块经浸取后,用重量法测定二氧化硅,滤液供测定其它项目之用。偏硼酸锂熔样的缺点是熔融物难于浸取。我们曾采用不同比例的硼酸和碳酸锂混合物熔样,其中,碳酸锂比例增加,熔块易于浸取,但过量的锂盐却使二氧化硅分析结果偏高,因此,采用自己制备的偏硼酸锂熔样,用超声波提取熔块,20分钟内可浸取完全。
