The city of Skopje in Yugoslavia has a population of 200,000. On July 26, 1963, a magnitude 6 earthquake occurred. Since the source was only a few kilometers underground, 40% of the houses in the city were seriously damaged. After the earthquake, Japan sent a delegation to the south. The following is a summary of the repairs made in the inspection report on the damaged buildings after the earthquake. Earthquake-resistant buildings should have sufficient strength to resist seismic forces and certain flexibility to horizontal displacement. Repairs to damaged buildings must also meet this requirement.
