Variable processing system instead of a special combination of machine tools The United States has an agricultural machinery manufacturing plant, the original processing equipment, can not meet the new series of tractors to process large castings requirements. Due to the types of workpieces and the small quantity, if the combined machine tool is adopted, the period for the recovery of the investment is too long and the area is too large, the conversion possibilities are limited. In a variety of orders and focus on production, encountered difficulties are inevitable. As a result, the variable processing system was favored, and this processing system gradually developed from 1971 to 1973 to the direct application computer. Since many machine tools can handle the machining of another part of the machine, the machine utilization can be high no matter how the production tasks are mixed. There is no need to add a new machine to the machining of a new workpiece or any modification of the original workpiece. In this way, changes in equipment and equipment investment is less than a quarter of the total investment.
