Before leaving China, Li Shaoxing’s plastic factory has been losing money. Although Fujian’s hometown has an inexhaustible supply of cheap labor and industrial raw materials, the ever-growing wages, power shortages and “priceless selling” of commodities have all the more frown on him. In the end, Li Shaoxing decided to invest “southward” and relocated the factory to a new industrial park in Vietnam. Now, his factory is working well and the profits are plentiful. “The workers’ wages here are only 1/3 in China, the industrial environment is good and the society is very stable,” said Li Shaoxing. This is a story recently told in a special report by the Washington Post entitled “Investing in China to the South.” The newspaper believes that as China increases its outward investment, Southeast Asia is an area of remarkable investment. ,
