河北省衡水县王许庄村南京开公路上修建4孔5米砖拱桥时,因缺乏拱架材料,采用了砖木土坯拱架。不仅克服了材料不足的困难,而且大大降低了工程造价,同时施工方法简易。今将砌筑方法介绍如下:砖木土坯拱架主要是利用桥梁本身所备的砖料做拱架的支撑墙,用较短小的木料做横梁和拱圈木,用荆巴、苇席等加草泥抹顶而成。砖砌支撑墙的间距,看横梁和拱圈木的规格而定,一般以2至3米为宜(因这样的木料当地最容易解决)。拱圈木之间距,视荆巴、苇席等材料的强度而定,采用密排或留有一定的间隙。本工程是采用荆巴,其间隙采用中到中为20～25厘米。拱架的结构如图。
