随着我国工业技术的不断发展,要求冶金工厂提供高精度的难变形簿带钢,如变压器硅钢和镍铬不锈钢等。这类带钢厚0.025~0.25毫米,宽200~1200毫米,用普通的四辊轧机已不能生产,用多辊式冷轧机,如甘辊式森吉米尔轧机生产,则嫌该机机构复杂,维护和操作十分不易,而且生产费用较高。现在用MKW八辊轧机生产这类产品,实践证明是成功的,其主要原因是八辊轧机远较多辊式冷轧机设备简单,操作和维护比较方便; 采用侧支撑辊以消除工作辊有害的水平弯曲;在辊系布置中采用工作辊对支撑辊的偏心距e,使工作辊运转有良好的稳定性;由于传动支撑辊的采用小直径的工作辊,轧辊强度和轧机刚性较好,轧制压力及变形功小,而可轧厚变降低;随着生产品种的改变,一机多用,可改为四辊和双八辊轧机。所以八辊轧机是四辊和多辊轧机所生产品种之间的比较合理的“中间轧机”。
