本文是应蔡元培研究会之约,为今年5月纪念蔡元培诞辰140周年、北京大学110周年校庆而举办的“蔡元培与现代中国”学术研讨会而写。这是由笔者十年前撰写且已公开发表的一篇冗长的三万多字文章《论蔡元培与中国近代音乐》(见《中央音乐学院学报》1998年第3第4期)压缩修改、调整补充而成。笔者以为与旧文有区别,除内容精炼外,在观点上与前文也有所不同,如概括提出了蔡元培“两个主张·三个强调”的艺术观,“容‘西’于‘中’”(以前提“中西兼容”并不确切)的音乐发展观,“音教兴乐”的音乐教育观、“作曲、理论并重”的人才培养观等。特此说明。
This article is written at the symposium of Cai Yuanpei and Modern China, held in May this year in commemoration of the 140th anniversary of Cai Yuanpei and the 110th anniversary of Peking University.
