今年是英国“光荣革命”300周年,为纪念这一历史事件,哈里·狄金逊教授应本刊编辑部之约,写了这篇文章,对1688年政变进行新的评价,这对我们开阔视野无疑是有意义的。狄金逊是爱丁堡大学历史系教授,是中国英国史同行熟知的一位学者和朋友。他热衷于中英两国文化交流,并受聘为南京大学兼职教授。狄金逊1960年在达勒姆大学获文学学士学位,1963年获文学硕士学位,1968年在纽卡斯尔大学获哲学博士学位。1986年在爱丁堡大学获文学博士学位。他对英国18世纪的历史有专门研究。主要著作有;《博林布鲁克》、《沃波尔与辉格党主宰政权》、《自由与财产》、《英国激进主义与法国革命》等。
This year marks the 300th anniversary of the “glorious revolution” in Britain. To commemorate this historic event, Professor Harry Dickinson wrote this article at the editorial office of this journal and made a new assessment of the 1688 coup. Undoubtedly, the horizon is meaningful. Dickinson is a professor of history at the University of Edinburgh and a scholar and friend well-known in China’s history and history. He is keen on cultural exchanges between China and Britain and hired as part-time professor at Nanjing University. Dickinson received a bachelor’s degree in literature from Durham University in 1960, a master’s degree in literature in 1963 and a doctorate in philosophy from Newcastle University in 1968. He received his PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 1986. He specialized in the history of England in the 18th century. Major works include: “Bolingbrook”, “Walpole and the Whig party dominate the government”, “freedom and property”, “British radicalism and the French Revolution” and so on.
