The end of 2007, Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, China’s 798 art district opened, lively like the big red wedding farewell to the past, big show, big publicity, guests like clouds. The opening of the first exhibition is also a great undertaking, “85 New Wave: China’s first contemporary art movement.” Is it just a lively big party? Is it just a relatively big foreign-funded gallery? (Note: Ullens entered China as a limited company and no art museum or other non-profit organization Legal status) Who are they? Why did they come to China? What are they going to do?
