In the patriarchal society, the history of literature is the male history of literature. In the history of male literature, women bodies such as Tess and Margaret in The Lady of the Camellia are flooded with men and women, all of whom died in love and fell victim to a male-centered society. However, Faulkner’s Emily in The Rose for Emily offered to kill her beloved man long enough to make her love a rare man in the history of literature. This is the female’s most reluctant resistance, we can also see the awakening of the female consciousness. They started from passive to active, and they demanded the basic rights to life.
