At the end of June 2010, Wu Laobo, who lives in Wencheng County, as usual, drowned a dried tobacco smoke along the shore of the Shansi Reservoir after breakfast. As he walked, he suddenly discovered that the water in the reservoir was a little different than usual and seemed to be something like blue-green algae. When he returned home, he told the son of the department of water conservancy in Shanxi. Subsequently, the management department found that the abnormal proliferation of cyanobacteria occurred early and at a faster rate and evolved from a small piece to a large area in only a few days, directly threatening drinking water safety in urban areas and surrounding counties.
