印度尼西亚(简称印尼)位于印度洋和太平洋上,在亚洲和澳洲大陆之间,自古以来就是海上交通的要道,也是华人移居南洋的侨居地之一。印尼是千岛之国,主要岛屿有爪哇、苏门答腊、加里曼丹、苏拉威西、西伊里安等,印尼群岛东西距离5100公里,南北距离1850公里。印尼人口有2援2亿多,由100多个民族组成,其中华人约600万人,占印尼总人口的4%(1982年)咱1暂。华人南迁印尼历史悠久,最初的移民多来自闽、粤两省,其中又以闽南人最多。在华人社群中,经常是以闽南语作为当地的通行方言,而在家庭成员之间的沟通则用各自的祖籍方言,有说粤方言
