At present, there are 3 million people who die of tuberculosis in the world each year, and 9 million new TB cases are added each year. It is estimated that one third of the world’s population is infected with tuberculosis and is at risk of incurring morbidity. Why is this incurable disease uncontrollable? In addition to the socio-economic factors such as poverty that have made some people susceptible, there is an increasing number of resistant bacteria, the ineffectiveness of existing BCG vaccines, and the spread of HIV aggravating the incidence of TB infection, as well as the neglect of M. tuberculosis studies prior to the 1990s Therefore, in-depth study on the pathogenesis and immunopathology of tuberculosis, exploring and finding new anti-TB vaccines and remedies has become an urgent and priority issue of current international concern.
