背景:上世纪90年代初,苏联解体后的俄罗斯由于激进的私有化进程导致经济陷入严重衰退,市场商品匮乏,而此时,已经历改革开放十余年的中国经济迅速发展,商品种类和数量日益丰富,尤其是服装鞋帽、钟表、家用电器、文具等轻工业产品,因价格便宜、款式新颖成为俄罗斯人眼中的抢手货。越来越多的中国倒爷瞅准这一商机,利用当时俄罗斯进出境管理比较宽松的便利,频繁携带大量商品进入俄罗斯贩卖。北京至莫斯科的3/4次国际列车就成为这条往来于中俄间的最主要通道,而当年让在俄中国人谈之色变的国际列车大劫案就发生在这条“淘金”之路上。
