过去人们普遍认为,脊神经后根内含感觉纤维,前根内含运动纤维。但令人难以理解的是,何以脊神经后根切断术后往往不能解除疼痛。其一可能解释是感觉也经前根到达脊髓。根据是:①切断前根后,其近侧段有少量有髓鞘纤维发生溃变,而远侧段良好;②前根或周围神经近端的腹侧部内见有后根节细胞;③在有些病人,当刺激其前根时,会产生感觉。晚近有人证明,前根内的感觉纤维数目远比以前所推测的为多。用电子显微镜检查猫的第7腰神经和第1骶神经时,发现其前根中有29％纤维是无髓鞘
