The core of the postmodern transformation of contemporary Western culture is from elitism to non-elitism. In this regard, democratization can provide us with a valuable perspective. The elitism of modernist culture comes from the professionalism brought about by the differentiation of fields. This kind of professionalism is the product of the collapse of the monopoly power of the traditional aristocratic society. On the surface of its elite posture is the fact that the popular culture has risen strongly and the power of artistic judgment has been gradually transferred into the hands of professional groups. Postmodern culture unloaded the mask of elitism, more directly reflected as a populist culture. Not only postmodern art and the entire cultural transformation need to be understood from the process of democratization of politics, economy and culture, but postmodernism-related theories and controversies can also be enlightened from the perspective of democratization.
