From December 1 to December 15, 1994, I learned a lot about what I learned when I went to the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The most prominent contradiction in the current Russian society is that the Russians’ social incomes have dropped and the income gap has been widening. According to the statistics of the World Bank, the average income of the 15 Republics of the former Soviet Union generally declined. Russians earned $ 3,470 in 1991 and $ 2,680 in 1992, while workers in 1994 averaged around $ 100 a month. According to Russian official statistics, about 22 million people earn below the poverty line.
