The Virchow-Robinspaces (VRS), the perivascular space, is a normal morphological structure within the central nervous system that has certain physiological and immunological functions. The characteristics of VRS on MRI are that the border is smooth and clear, circular or linear, which is consistent with the perforating artery. It has the same signals of cerebrospinal fluid on the T1WI, T2WI and FLAIR sequences and has no contrast-enhancing effect and no mass-bearing effect. VRS expansion found in hypertension, diabetes, cerebral arteriosclerosis, leukoencephalopathy, hydrocephalus, multiple sclerosis, myotonic dystrophy, cryptococcosis, brain development of children and other diseases.
