Luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LRH) is present in the hypothalamus of animals in very small amounts and is transported to the anterior pituitary via nerves and capillaries to promote secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). The natural source of LRH is extremely difficult and the elucidation of the structure and the success of chemical synthesis have created the conditions for its widespread use. LRH is a decapeptide containing six multifunctional amino acids. There are no free amino and carboxyl groups in the molecule. Its structure is PGlu · His · Trp · Ser · Tyr · Gly · Leu · Arg · Pro-GlyNH_2. Some highly active LRH analogs can be obtained by changing the structure of LRH, such as [DAla ~ 6] [de-Gly ~ (10) NH_2] LRH ethylamide, PGlu · His · Trp · Ser · Tyr · DAla · Leu · Arg · Pro · NHC_2_5, in vitro rat pituitary culture, its ability to release LH than LRH
