A milder method to control bacteria may be able to solve the new threat of disease caused by bacterial resistance. For more than 50 years, antibiotics have been used as a weapon against a range of patients ranging from tonsillitis to typhoid fever. In recent years, however, antibiotics have gradually lost their magical power to the disease. There are so many bacterial strains nowadays that disregard ordinary antibiotics, so that the US Food and Drug Administration has listed bacterial resistance as an increasing threat to human and animal health. The problem with traditional antibiotics is that they use the way the neutron bombs are destroyed: they kill all bacteria indiscriminately. Bacteriologist Marcin Philiputovic said that this caused two questions
