The half-life of 36Cl is 3.01 × 105a, which can be used to determine the geologic age between hundreds of thousands and millions of years, just to fill this age gap of the 14C upper limit. 36Cl is a very important tracer nuclide in applications such as Quaternary studies, the determination of groundwater age, and the long-term balance of sedimentary rocks and igneous rocks in the monitoring geology.
