美国矿山局的学者在两种现有技术的基础上发展了一种价廉而有效的金属表面零件熔接耐磨层的新方法。这种方法是,用聚苯乙烯作成零件模型,面上覆盖上一层耐磨金属 (如铁铬金属)。将此模型嵌在型砂之中。把浇铸金属熔液浇入模型,熔融金属成型的过程中,分解聚苯乙烯,同时熔接上耐磨金属层。这种方法成本低廉,并能克服一般熔接覆盖层时易使材料变脆的缺点。
Scholars at the US Bureau of Mines have developed a new, cost-effective method of welding wear-resistant layers of metal surface components based on two prior art techniques. This method is to use polystyrene as part model, covered with a layer of wear-resistant metal (such as iron chromium metal). Embed this model in the sand. Pour casting molten metal into the mold, melt molten metal forming process, the decomposition of polystyrene, while welding on the wear-resistant metal layer. This method is inexpensive and overcome the shortcomings of brittle materials that would normally occur when welding overlays.
